Fliggo 2.0 is on the horizon

June 30th, 2008

It has been a few months since we last posted a blog, and there has been good reason. We’ve been under the hood for 4 months developing Fliggo 2.0.

What’s coming in this update?

  • Brand new layout and interface. Everything is now much faster and easier to browse (and much prettier!).
  • Video Analytics — Find out where all of your views are coming from, and who they are.
  • Personalized Recommendations – No more featured videos on the homepage, only videos you will like.
  • New Community section — Meet the new members and see what’s happening on Fliggo. This page is to be molded by you guys.
  • Video Mixes are now fully integrated.
  • New robust profiles! You can now interact with other users and learn much more about them via their profile.
  • No more backend! All of your editing will be done in-place, there’s no need to make you run around.
  • Messaging –Send and receive private messages and create discussion threads with one or more users.
  • Fans/Friends — You can now become a fan of other users, and if they are a fan of you as well, you will be friends. You can recommend videos to friends, get updates about them, and build yourself a nice network of people you like.

When can you start using the new site?

Fliggo 2.0 will be launched this week. If you are interested in peeking before the official launch, send me an e-mail (chrys at fliggo dot com).

Will there be more?

Yes! There are plans for Fliggo 2.1, as well as a big surprise coming at the end of the Summer. Stay tuned!

Your friend,
Chrys

Wow!

March 21st, 2008

Yesterday, we had our biggest day ever on Fliggo. Due to a certain video, Fliggo was inundated with traffic and we’re still trying to recover (thanks for melting that server, Digg!). Apologies to anyone who had trouble accessing the site… it wasn’t personal.

Due to the increasing popularity of Fliggo, we are moving quickly to roll out new features. First on the list are going to be some analytics so that you can see how your video is being viewed, a smoother and more fluid design, and better ways to interact.

A welcome to all the new users we got yesterday, and stay tuned for more updates.

Dan

Fliggo, who are you and why are you here?

March 10th, 2008

We know that Fliggo has been under the radar when it comes to communicating with our visitors — that comes to an end today.

The long and the short of who we are is: Fliggo is here to address an emerging problem in the way that people consume videos on the internet. There is a severe lack of personalization in the online video entertainment realm. There are sites that show you what’s popular in that site’s niche community, and there are sites with immense libraries of video, but there are no sites that offer you an experience that is tailored to your tastes in videos. Fliggo is here to fill that void.

Personalized video watching experience

Personalized video watching experienceThe number of videos available on the internet has exponentially increased and the means of finding videos has become harder and has not scaled well. With huge libraries of videos and great differences in tastes among users, connecting these users to video content that interests them is an area which is very important in user satisfaction, but not something which many websites have succeeded in doing. In general, most videos are seen as a result of word-of-mouth interactions, embedded on other sites in the context of something else, video blogs, or from niche sites.

Regardless of how users come to watch videos, video platforms have not been very effective at connecting users to videos that interest them. Since video appeals to a wide demographic of people, this problem exists at all levels, from younger users trying to find humorous content to older users looking for more educational videos. We know everyone is unique, so why should you have to be satisfied with watching what everyone likes when we can give you only what you like?

Advanced tools for content creators

Charts and Graphs for Content CreatorsIn terms of users uploading videos, there are two problems that exist. The first problem is that those who make content can have trouble finding an audience, and the second problem is that these content creators cannot see who likes their videos, where they are coming from, and why. Fliggo will offer a broad range of tools that will enable content creators to view in-depth statistics on how their videos are spreading around the world. Content creators will begin to learn what audience their content appeals to, and in turn, we will deliver the appropriate content to the users who we know it will appeal to.

Data, data, data. If something is happening, you should know. If you’re uploading a video to Fliggo, we will tell you everything that happens in that video’s lifetime. Anything less would be unacceptable. Find out who’s embedding it, who’s linking to it, what sites your videos are popular in, what kind of people like your stuff, and much more. Everything is subject to evolution, and online video is not an exception.

Summary

To summarize, this is what you can expect from Fliggo in the coming months:

  • Personalized video recommendations for users. Sit back, let Fliggo entertain you.
  • Comprehensive tools for content creators (graphs, trends, demographics, statistics)
  • Numerous new features that will enhance your interactivity with the site.

Stay tuned!

Stay tuned to our blog, we will be posting updates as often as possible. We want everyone to be involved in the growth and development of Fliggo. So, if you have something to say, don’t be shy.
