We all know that the Harry Potter films were hugely successfully all around the globe, but how much did J.K Rowling’s franchise actually make? Star Daniel Radcliffe who play the lead in all eight of the Potter films recently been very self-critical and admitted that he didn’t think that he was very good in a few of the films, but this does not seem to have affected their huge popularity one bit. Radcliffe has said that his performances in the films were “one-note” and “complacent” and he claims that he finds it hard to watch himself playing the role of Harry on screen these days. However, with a 3 day opening of over 120 million dollars for The Deathly Hallows Part 1 in the USA, it the public seem to disagree with him.
In total the eight Potter films have made an astonishing $7.7bn worldwide making them the highest-grossing of all time and children and adults alike were very sad to see the end of the long running franchise. Will we ever see a set of films again that are quite so popular with the whole family? Only time will tell. One thing that is certain is that the enduring appeal of Harry Potter will definitely last for many further generations.
